Win a culinary break in Istria
The winners will spend three nights at Bolara Šešanta in Croatian Istria. The c.250 year-old stone farmhouse and walled vegetable garden had been abandoned for 30 years. By 2017 we’ll be open for guests seeking rural tranquility and culinary adventure…
Istria is famous for its air-dried ham, game, truffles, wild asparagus, seafood, olive oil and wine. Its delicious cuisine is an intriguing mix of Italian, Austrian and Slavic influences, featuring many dishes cooked on the open hearth.
We’ll make sure you enjoy the best of Istrian food and drink and invite you into the kitchen to get stuck in. This might be preserving garden fruit in summer, rolling pasta to top with truffles in autumn or making salami and sauerkraut in winter.
Istria is easy to explore and boasts beautiful walking and cycling routes in the hills, medieval hill-top towns, crystal clear swimming spots and fantastic restaurants.
Anyone who attends a Culinary Anthropologist event in London in 2016 can enter the draw. All you have to do is leave your name and email address in Anna’s visitors’ book while you are there.
You can enter the draw each time you attend an event in 2016.
Three nights bed and breakfast accommodation at Bolara Šešanta for two people sharing a room.
Welcome dinner with wine.
Arrangements for a seasonal culinary activity in the local area, for which an extra charge may be made depending on the activity. This will be agreed with the prize winner in advance.
Transport to and from Bolara Šešanta. (Daily Ryanair flights to nearby Trieste are pretty cheap.)
Any further activities, accommodation, meals or services. These may be booked for an extra charge.
The draw is open from 1st January to 31st December 2016.
Leaving your name and email address in the Culinary Anthropologist visitors’ book will result in you being entered into the draw and added to the Culinary Anthropologist newsletter list, unless you specifically request not to be.
One draw entry is permitted per person per event. So if you attend 3 Culinary Anthropologist events in 2016 you may enter 3 times. All entries must be made in person, during the event.
The winner will be picked at random from all entries in January 2017 and notified soon after by email. If we receive no response to our email for two weeks we will pick another winner at random and the previous draw will be invalidated.
The prize will be issued in the form of a voucher which will be valid for two years.
The winner will need to book their visit to Bolara Šešanta in advance direct with Anna, and bookings will be subject to availability. Please note that Bolara Šešanta may not be open every month of the year.
The prize is non transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Both Culinary Anthropologist and Bolara Šešanta may use the names of the winners and photos from their visit to Istria in their publicity materials.
