SOAS Food Studies Centre
As a post-doctoral Research Associate of the SOAS Food Studies Centre I explore the social, cultural, political and economic dimensions to food and am involved in various projects.
Having returned to university after a 20 year break to do the (fantastic) MA in the Anthropology of Food, I then did a part-time PhD. My thesis – ‘Making Local Specialities: Food, Place and Value in Istria’ (2024) – examined the intersections of making food, place and value in this rapidly changing borderland region. I am currently working on publications stemming from this work.
My research interests include the cultural economy and place making, rural and gastronomic tourism, hospitality and cooking, localised and post-socialist food systems.
